Tai Chi Quan
Tai Chi Chuan (太極拳), translated as “Grand Ultimate Fist”, is a martial art that cultivates health, longevity, and self-defense skills through mindful breathing, smooth flowing and intentional movements. Tai Chi Chuan enhances the connection between mind and body.
Tai Chi Chuan practice is guided by three concepts: slowness, softness, and relaxation. Practicing slowly develops patience, eases tempers, and builds qi (energy/vital life force). Practicing softly develops internal power and physical strength. Relaxing while practicing releases tension, eases the heart and spirit, and develops a quiet mind.

Under the Wu style Tai Chi Chuan system, students typically begin their practice by learning the Gah Gee (架子), the slow form. The slow form contains 108 movements (postures). By learning the slow form, students cultivate a strong foundation, paving the way to learn the Tai Chi Goon Chuen (太極貫串) (fast form), push hands for self defense, gim (sword) form, and other elements. The practice of Tai Chi Chuan is a rewarding process. Consistent practice of Tai Chi Chuan will improve balance, reduce stress, increase flexibility, boost the immune system, and enhance overall wellbeing.
