The Six Healing Sounds

Qi Gong is an integration of physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intentions.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, mental and physical health problems are caused by energetic imbalances in the organs and meridians. The flow of energy, or qi, through the internal organs and energetic channels of the body and can affect the emotions; conversely, chronic extreme emotions can create imbalance on the physical and energetic level. The mind and body are inextricably connected.

In today’s hectic world, one of the most common sources of imbalance is chronic stress. Stress stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, also called the “fight or flight” response. This causes a chain reaction that affects every organ system in the body. Adrenaline is released from the glands that sit on top of the kidneys, which elevates the heart rate, weakens digestion, and impairs proper breathing.

When stress is sustained over long periods, the organs become exhausted and their function is impaired. Qi and energy stagnate, which makes the body prone to poor health and disease, and the mind susceptible to anxiety and depression. Many of us spend our lives in this chronic state of stress, without realizing the physical and emotional consequences.

The Six Healing Sounds is a form of Qi Gong that can alleviate the anxiety and disharmony of modern life. When practiced regularly, the Six Healing Sounds will:

  • Balance energy and improve function of the organs

  • Open the throat, improve breathing and increase oxygen in the bloodstream

  • Improve the flow of energy or qi

  • Detoxify the body
